Austin surrounded by his family

Tipp City Schools is excited to welcome a new principal to Tippecanoe Middle School. Austin Halsey will officially assume his role on August 1.

Halsey earned a Bachelor of Science in Language Arts Education from Miami University, a master's in school counseling from Xavier University, and administrative licensure from the University of Dayton. He most recently worked as a school counselor for Valley View High School.

While there, he fielded many principal responsibilities, such as developing career-focused academic initiatives, managing student discipline, and addressing staff concerns.

"Education has been a lifelong commitment for me. I have taught as a classroom educator, supported students as a school counselor, and have filled many other positions inside the academic setting, such as coaching sports, leading clubs, and participating in community-based programs," said Halsey.

When asked about his new position, he said he is most excited "to participate in the educational development of our future generations and to see the positive, long-term impact in the lives of kids."

Halsey wants TMS to be a place where kids and staff are safe and able to strive toward academic excellence. He believes that when learning is challenging and exciting, kids can experience remarkable growth, and staff can experience self-fulfillment.

"My vision for TMS is to be a school that our community is proud of because we care about kids and set them up for successful futures," he added.

He and his family are thrilled to be a part of a close-knit community and the district's future.
