The Ohio Academy of Science recognizes and rewards pre-college student researchers as Melvin Scholars each year. These students will represent Ohio at the national American Junior Academy of Science meeting held in conjunction with the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting. AJAS allows Ohio students to interact with other student researchers from across the country and scientific professionals from around the world. Due to the high number of staff requests for a personal day on Friday to attend the funeral of THS senior Carson Robbins, and the inability to fill many positions with substitutes, Tipp City Schools will be closed on Friday, April 21st. 👏Congratulations to the Tippecanoe High School Academic Quiz Team for its 2nd-place finish at the Northwest Regional Tournament. 👏With this victory, the team qualified for the Ohio State Championships on May 6th. 🥈 This is the first THS Quiz Team trip to the state finals since 2011! The Quiz Team will be in action on April 28th as they head to the National History Bowl in Washington, DC. 👏Congratulations to Tippecanoe High School students Evelyn Gold and Lauren Ivy, who earned gold medals at the FCCLA regional competition and qualified for the State FCCLA Leadership Conference!
🧁The students presented their project, "Cupcakes for a Cause," to a team of judges and talked about the importance of young children learning to bake and measure.
🎁They also raised money to support families at the Miami County Family Abuse Shelter to supply Christmas gifts to children. FCCLA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, is a career and technical student organization. #WEareTIPP
Four Tippecanoe High School students competed in the Xtreme Bot Competition in Cincinnati. They created a robot to meet weight and safety specifications for the one-pound robot class. They won their first match and were the first team of the day to win by pushing their opponent into the trap door. The robot suffered irreparable damage to a wheel during the second match. It was the team's first robot competition; they hope to compete in the 15-pound class next year. Congratulations to Amaya Lipps, Amelia Staub, Evan Chesshir, Aubree Buehler, and teacher extraordinaire Annette Malott! #WEareTIPP

Tippecanoe Middle School and Tippecanoe High School teamed up to collect aluminum pull tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in honor of a hospitalized student and his family. The tabs are recycled and turned into money for families of hospitalized children. While many staff and students are away for spring break, THS teachers Luke Zerkle and Mike Maley delivered the tabs. #WEareTIPP
Thank you to the Tippecanoe Educational Endowment for funding the Ballet Folklorico dance performance at Tippecanoe High School. Officially called El Corazon de Mexico, students learned about dances from states within Mexico and the handmade costumes worn by performers. It was a colorful and energetic performance with an opportunity to promote global citizenship and nurture cultural awareness and appreciation. #WEareTIPP

The THS Board Game Club collected about 150 new games and puzzles during its Third Annual Game Drive for Dayton Children's Family Resource Connection. Seniors Annaleah Lambert and Noah Stienecker were instrumental in gathering and delivering the games to the hospital. #WEareTIPP

The Mariachi Garibuldi band performed for students at Tippecanoe High School thanks to a grant from Tipp Foundation. The five-member crew did a fantastic job! The focus is for students to learn more about Mexican culture and the importance of music to the culture. #WEareTIPP

Again, he earned a Superior rating by getting a perfect score of 40/40 for his science fair project and qualified for State Science Day! This is the 6th consecutive year Sadhil has advanced to the state level!
